Environmental Project Manager

Nakeyan Environmental Consulting Inc. is currently seeking a Project Manager for our Okotoks office.

The successful candidate will be responsible for environmental  project management, client liaison, staff development, and technical guidance.  Other responsibilities will include:

    • Budget development for various assessment and remediation projects
    • Complete and/or oversee field work associated with Phase 1, Phase 2, and remediation projects
    • Progressively track project spending and review contractor invoices
    • Prepare and review technical proposals and reports
    • Coordinate and mentor junior staff encouraging technical growth and development
    • Regularly provide project status reports to the operations manager
    • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with clients and regulatory agencies

Qualifications:
The successful candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:

    • Environmental Science Degree (or relevant degree/diploma from a credible institution)
    • Excellent analytical thinking, communication, writing, organizational, computer, and problem solving skills
    • Ability to work independently or within a multi-disciplinary team to meet project goals
    • In-depth understanding of upstream oil and gas environmental requirements including Alberta Tier 1 & 2 Guidelines, CCME Guidelines, and ERCB                Directives 50 and 58.
    • Valid driver’s license

Candidates applying for this position should have a minimum of four years technical environmental consulting experience in the upstream oil and gas industry with previous management experience.  Preference will be given to candidates who have obtained professional designations (i.e., P.Eng., P.Geol. or P.Ag.).

Junior/Intermediate Environmental Consultant

Nakeyan Environmental Consulting Inc. is currently seeking junior and intermediate environmental consultants for our Okotoks office.

The successful candidates will assist the project manager and/or senior personnel with various aspects of the environmental project management process.  Responsibilities will include:

    • Assist in budget development activities for various assessment and remediation projects
    • Design and prepare technical proposals for review and approval by senior personnel
    • Coordinate and complete soil and ground water assessment activities, interpret analytical laboratory results, and prepare technical reports for review by      senior personnel
    • Progressively track project spending and review contractor invoices
    • Regularly provide project status reports to senior personnel
    • Assist with the development and implementation of remedial systems
    • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with contractors and regulatory agencies.

Qualifications:
The successful candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:

    • Environmental Science Degree (or relevant degree/diploma from a credible institution)
    • Excellent analytical thinking, communication, writing, organizational, computer, and problem solving skills
    • Ability to work independently or within a multi-disciplinary team to meet project goals

Preference will be given to candidates with previous upstream oil and gas industry experience and/or the ability to register with a professional organization as either a professional or member-in-training.
